Greetings to you all, I hope you are flourishing, and if not, know the Lord is always there for you, just don’t forget to smile.
As we prepare for the Nativity of our Lord this year, we first experience the Advent period. We may wonder what this period is. Advent comes from two Latin words, ad (to) and venire (to come). The Latin language has four principal parts (adveniō, advenīre, advēnī, adventus) and many English words are derived from the fourth principal part. In this case, the fourth principal part is adventus. Hence, advent literally means the coming: the awaiting of the coming of the Lord as we anticipate His Nativity.
This Advent, I am privileged to present two sessions on the anticipation of the coming of our Lord.
The first session consists of a video on how different cultures prepare for the coming of the Lord in line with the Church’s teaching, and afterward, a short lecture. The second session is on December 9, where our parish musicians present a well-known song, “Oh Come Emmanuel.” The session begins with a very short lecture about the music, and then our melodious musicians crown the lecture with the beautiful hymn.
Preparing for the Lord to come into our hearts is always good. Are you ready to welcome him as He enters your life?
