Dear Parishioners:
Good Shepherd Sunday speaks to us of the Love of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, for all of us, His Flock. He knows each of us intimately. He speaks to our hearts, calling us by a “secret name,” known only to Him and to each one of us. The name He gives us is our identity in God. It includes a “mission” that is entrusted to us. As we listen to His voice, we are able to say with full confidence, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
The Church in our time calls us to gather those entrusted to us into a place of comfort and peace. We are invited to allow the Lord Himself to use our faces, our voices, and the love in our hearts to reach out to others. Who are the other members of the flock that you are meant to gather in? Do you seek them? Do you hold them in your prayer? Do you respond to the needs that they make known to you? God’s Shepherding Love is meant to flow through us.
